ResponsibilitiesSupports system development through each phase of the software development process including, but not limited to, Requirement Analysis, Design, Development, Testing, Implementation, Maintenance, and Configuration Management.
Serves as team lead/technical lead and employs project management tools.
Has responsibility for programming new and maintaining existing code.
Supports system development supporting large scale demographic surveys and supplements throughout each phase of the survey life cycle.
Documents detailed software designs and models.
Modifies and prepares technical documentation for system software applications.

Experience:
For the GS-13, you must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 in the Federal service.
Experience for this position includes:
Experience utilizing expertise of programming concepts, techniques, structures, and software engineering to develop software systems within the prescribed system architecture, while resolving unique problems under tight time constraints; Experience employing configuration management principles related to change control activities in the deployment of software systems, and overall enforcement of standards and guidelines; Experience leading or supervising projects and/or teams in the IT domain, and utilizing project management software to ensure projects are completed on time; Experience implementing generalized software solutions in support of demographic survey data collection and processing; Experience documenting software technologies and computer systems and using software system design practices to document integrated computer systems using knowledge of software development and computer architecture integration for use by customers and IT staff members; and Experience serving as a technical liaison to obtain and exchange information on integrated software development, on gaining acceptance of new technology, and to enforce standards and guidelines developed.
