Dental Office Manager

Overview General Summary   Reporting to the SVP, Clinical Integration and Ambulatory Services, the Dental Office Manager serves as the operational manager of financial and clinical operations for the dental practice located in Suitland, MD. In collaboration with the senior provider and department leadership manages the coordination and delivery of dental services consistent with the mission and values of the University of Maryland-Capital Region Health system and the professional and regulatory standards governing the practice and including human and financial resource management.                                              Principal Responsibilities and Tasks The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by the person assigned to this classification.  They are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all job duties performed by personnel so classified. Responds to patient and doctor needs and inquiries and resolves patient issues in accordance with company policies and procedures.   Ensures the delivery of quality dental care to patients in adherence to healthcare regulations and dental board standards.   Manages patient scheduling and direct patient traffic flow.   Presents treatment plans to patients.   Prepares and presents financial summaries and arranges payment schedules with patients.   Supervises the processing of dental claims.   Coordinates with dental insurance companies to facilitate claim payment.   Manages the specialist referral process.   Recruits and hires administrative and technical staff pursuant to operational requirements.   Trains, develops staff and manage their performance.   Develops and manages staff schedules in response to operational   Manages employee relations and the provision of staff resources   Develops, monitors and maintains the office budget.   Prepares and oversees the purchase of supplies and equipment to include upgrades.   Verifies and/or performs administrative functions including bank deposits, revenue posting, staff payroll and invoice processing.   Oversees collections and accounts receivable   Runs and analyzes management reports and takes corrective action as required.   Participates in marketing and promotional initiatives.   Oversees the maintenance of patient data according to regulations and company policies and ensures records are stored securely and in compliance with privacy regulations.   Provides for aesthetically pleasing and functional office spaces.   Ensures facilities and equipment are maintained in accordance with hygiene and safety regulations including OSHA.   Performs related work as assigned. Intervenes to support or additionally provide service recovery process steps as appropriate. Completes appropriate documentation. Oversees and demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age, culture, ethnicity, spirituality, and individual needs of the persons served. Consistently seeks and conveys relevant operational information, using hand-off communication approach. Assists staff to identify and address potential breeches in information management and confidentiality (HIPAA) issues. Collaboration & Teamwork- Understands team dynamics and cultivates an environment that enables staff to work collaboratively towards departmental/organizational goals. Sets and communicates clear expectations for the team. Develops an environment in which team members cooperate, participate in decision making, respect and support each other. Utilizes skills in providing feedback, conflict resolution and negotiation to handle interpersonal problems that occur within the team. Works collaboratively with others across boundaries to accomplish organizational goals. Leadership & Management- Articulates a clear direction for the unit/department that translates into action steps and goals for staff. Influences staff to move in desired direction through delegation of tasks, removal of barriers, monitoring progress and serving as an advocate. Provides guidance to staff in setting priorities and in developing time management skills. Elevates performance and competency of staff by creating, coordinating and conducting educational programs and collateral materials. Considers provisions necessary for staff to attend required in-services or meetings. Professional Growth & Development- Collaborate with leadership to create an individual development plan that identifies an individual's learning and developmental. Maintains professional growth and development to keep abreast of trends and regulatory changes in area of specialty. Maintains professional affiliations, and attends outside conferences and seminars as needed and within budgetary and management approval. Education & Experience   Bachelor's degreerequired. Master's degree in business, health care administration or related field is highly preferred.   CPR Certification required.   5 years previous dental office management experience in a large dental group or multi-office setting;   Knowledge, Skills and Abilities   Good knowledge and proven performance in meeting professional standards.   Demonstrated ability to assume administrative and clinical leadership role.   Ability to manage and coach the work of supervisory, dental and support staff; assigning work priorities; auditing work quality; orienting, educating and implementing professional standards   Ability to analyze financial data.   Demonstrated effectiveness as an interdisciplinary team member.   Demonstrated/documented highly effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.   Excellent customer relations skills   Ability to learn and apply computer systems in order to manage patient information. Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
