Position Description:
We are seeking a WebSphere Administrator who will be responsible for developing and designing scripts in an IBM WebSphere Application Server (WAS) environment. Additionally, the candidate is responsible for application installation, tuning, JVM (Java Virtual Machine) configuration, Application Root Cause Analysis, and Heap Dump Analysis. Candidate is expected to provide leadership and direction for the WAS environment. Candidate must have specific recent experience with WAS version 6 and 7 and should have experience in both AIX and Red Hat Linux. Candidate should have experience with WAS and LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol) integration, system deployments and application upgrades. Candidate must demonstrate experience of capacity planning, performance management, and security compliance (Nist 800-53), as well as the tools and processes that monitor the operational status of WAS. Candidate should have experience with ITCAMS (Tivoli Composite Applications
manager
). The candidate should have reasonable knowledge of Java and JavaScript. Should have experience with Scripting, Cron, and Perl. Should have good technical writing and speaking ability and must be able to be comfortable in a high stress environment. Candidate must be able to work effectively in a team environment.
Responsibilities:
Provide leadership and direction and have expert level knowledge of WAS, configuration and performance management as well system design and implementation architecture to optimize system reliability and performance (30%)
Responsible for developing and designing scripts, procedures, WebPages and programs on the system related to WAS (30%)
Conduct root cause analysis to investigate complex system problems and implement appropriate resolutions (20%)
Create and use tools and processes to perform health checks, generate audit data, and create system documentation (5%)
Install upgrades and patches to WAS. Perform system administration on assigned WAS systems; maintain configurations in the WAS environment and IHS IBM HTTP Server; anticipate problems. Review knowledge portals to keep knowledge current; anticipate problems. Review knowledge portals to keep knowledge current; anticipate problems. Required Skills:
Expert skills and 5
years experience as system engineer for WAS in a RHEL & AIX environments
Expert skills in writing and maintaining scripts (e.g. kornshell or Perl) and cron

Development experience in Java, JavaScriptUnderstanding and experience across full project life cycle

Preferred Skills:
Experience with Oracle (10g & 11g) database, Endeca, ArcGIS
Experience in a large complex heterogeneous environments(AIX, Red Hat Linux, Windows)
Work Location: Suitland, MD
All candidates must be local to the DC/VA/MD area and willing to travel to Suitland, MD.
The candidate needs to be able to pass the standard background investigation for government work and must have been and authorized to work in the United States for at least 2 years preceding the application.
